The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 series introduces three fresh monsters to Android gaming

Published:

We just tuned in to Premiere of the Samsung Galaxy S25 seriesand the Korean tech giant unveiled not one, but three fresh flagship Android phones. We’ve got the S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra, and all three variants boast several upgrades that take performance, cooling, and, yes, you guessed it, mobile AI, to the next level. If you missed the gigantic reveal, we have prepared all the most fascinating information for you below.

As a gaming website, we’re most interested in updates that improve your experience when playing the best Android games. Well, the fresh Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset for the Galaxy should do just that, and the customized overclocked chipset reportedly offers five times faster performance and 40% and 18% improvements in ray tracing and gaming frame rates, respectively. What’s more, all models now have 12GB of RAM, which should reduce loading times. In compact, all three fresh S25 devices are more than ready to compete with the products selected from our guide to the best gaming phones.

More power comes with the need for more reliable heat management, but Samsung also takes this into account. The S25 series’ vapor chamber is 40% larger than last year, which the brand says helps keep Androids cold even during the most intense gaming sessions. This is great news for fans of demanding games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, which we often apply to test heat dissipation in fresh devices. Another gigantic win for mobile gaming enthusiasts is the promise of longer battery life, although we didn’t get as much detail in this area as we did with the performance gains.

As expected, the rest of the presentation focused on the fresh AI features and AI capabilities of One UI 7, Samsung’s latest operating system. Google and Samsung appear to be continuing to expand their partnership by bringing Google Gemini integration to the S25 series along with fresh Circle to Search updates. There’s also a fresh Audio Eraser tool that eliminates background noise in videos, and Now Brief that summarizes all the most essential information from the day in one place. If this year’s AI features are anything like those unveiled in 2024, we should see these tools made available to the rest of Samsung’s top phones soon.

Samsung’s launch would also not be possible without camera-related updates. This year it’s more about software, and the fresh ProVisual Engine offers many fresh ways to take and edit photos. In terms of hardware, only the S25 Ultra has a fresh camera, moving to a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera that should offer more detailed photos compared to last year’s 12MP equivalent.

So let’s move on to the most essential part of every launch, the price reveal. Prices for the Samsung Galaxy S25 start at $799 and the S25+ at $999. For the top flagship, the S25 Ultra, the price is $1,299 and up. Pre-orders are now open and the gigantic release date is just a few weeks away on February 7th.

In terms of colors, the S25 and S25 Plus are available in Navy, Silver Shadow, Icy Blue and Mint, as well as three online exclusive versions in Pink Gold, Coral Red and Blue Black. The S25 Ultra comes in its own finishes, with a choice of Titanium Gray, Titanium Black, Titanium Silverblue, and Titanium and White Silver, as well as Titanium Pinkgold, Titanium Jetblack, and Titanium Jadegreen as colors Samsung.com exclusive.

Of course, Samsung loves to reveal information at the last minute, so after covering the pricing and release date of the S25 series, we also got a glimpse of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge. We didn’t get any details, just a quick look at the phone, but it’s likely that the fourth installment of the S25 series could be what leakers are calling the Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim, an ultra-slim variant of the Android flagship. However, this could be completely wrong, so we’ll have to wait and see what exactly this mysterious fourth model has to offer when Samsung releases more information at a later date.
