Captain America: Brave New World comes out in two months, and we’ve already seen enough to get our adrenaline-loving, superhero-obsessed, conspiracy theorist-obsessed hearts eager for the next installment in the series Captain America canon. We’ve seen Harrison Ford transform from President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross into Red Hulk, Giancarlo Esposito transform into an armed madman as Seth Voelker/Sidewinder, and Anthony Mackie don the coolest Captain America suit in years. Now, thanks to the latest trailer, we finally get to see more of one of the least talked about characters: Joaquin Torres/Falcon (Danny Ramirez).
In Marvel’s “special look” at the film, we see Ramirez in action in Sam Wilson’s senior Falcon gear. It’s fun to see him zipping through the sky, dodging bombers and generally annoying Wilson with his claims that he looks better in the Falcon suit than the recent Captain America. There’s also a moment where the pair are out of their super costumes, apparently lurking nearby to get information on any evil deeds being committed by villain Samuel Sterns (Tim Blake Nelson), who we still haven’t seen beyond the shadows.
Torres, who previously starred in Best pistol: Maverick, first appeared in Captain America universe as Joaquin Torres in the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Ramirez at Comic Con 2024 in San Diego explained Phase zero that he didn’t even fully know what the Falcon suit would look like until they started shooting. “It took months to create. When we were doing prep for the movie, we were like, “Okay, Danny, try this on.” Well, try this. At the same time I was training. That’s why the suit kept changing. I remember once I was ready to put it on on set, I looked at it and thought, “Oh, that’s it.” Cholera!”
I think we all had the same reaction as Ramirez after watching the latest trailer. Now we just have to wait until February 14 to see the Falcon in action.
