The latest patch for Star Wars Outlaws introduces more stealth improvements and a fix that, unfortunately, is too behind schedule to undo the monumental damage I’ve done to Kay’s insurance premiums

I’ve been involved in more speeder accidents that were definitely my fault than I care to count during my time at Star Wars Outlaws, but the good news is that the latest patch for the game seems to make it no longer pose a risk to others road users in the galaxy. It’s just a shame that my version of Kay Vess is already doomed to spend ages on a holophone when her renewal comes due.

This update is one of the first steps in the improvements Ubisoft has prepared for Outlaws, while also revealing that it is moving the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows from November this year to February. So we hope that the changes we’ve made will achieve their goal of fixing the issues some people have had with the game.

What are these fixes, you ask? Well, as described in patch notesfurther improvements to stealth and changes to the way Kay’s speeder is checked are the main headlines. Regarding the former, Ubisoft writes that it has “improved the overall stealth experience by adjusting AI detection, the number of NPCs and their locations, patrol routing, camera detection, and emphasis on environmental capabilities to reduce player friction.”

Then we get to the upgrades to the speeder, the space bike’s “response and response when called”, the positioning of its camera when its field of view increases and, most importantly, its behavior when you slam it into the environment like a hooligan have all been changed.

Unfortunately, the latter is far too behind schedule to repair the damage I’ve done to Kay’s spine and to be able to insure her speeder without having to pay a lot of money to the real thugs of any galaxy – people selling you pieces of paper that you need, but I also hope that you will never have to apply. Honestly, it’s kind of Outlaws’ fault too, considering it constantly presents me with jumps and falls off cliffs that seem almost doable, assuming I can get past that rock right behind…. Oh shit. Well, at least I have plenty of vials of bacta.

Other notable fixes include a number of issue fixes, including one where players will get stuck in the hyper jump sequence towards Kijimi, one where the “Start” button prompt will not appear after the “Wreck” mission, one where a malfunctioning barrier energy in Speakeasy Kerro and a couple with the Jeta Kordo quest line. Stability and performance should also be better, regardless of the platform you’re on.
