The Last of Us season 2 has an unclear 2025 release window thanks to a novel trailer filled with people we’re sure are fine

Good news for fans of the HBO television series The Last of Us. Season 2 just received a novel trailer and a 2025 release window. There is no exact day, month or season. However, the trailer gave us more insight into what will happen in season two, and judging by what we see, it looks like everyone will be very content about life in the post-apocalypse.

The trailer is full of little snippets of footage that are worth watching second by second, but some of the highlights include Joel teaching Ellie to play the guitar, Abbie looking at a terribly depressed grave, and a swarm of infected charging into a snowy… building. How are these things related? Who could say, but we are absolutely sure that everything will be fine.

This season is sure to be a milestone on HBO’s 2025 calendar. Not only was season one an award-winning hit, but we know that season 3 and beyond are also in the works. While it kind of sucks that we don’t know when exactly to expect Season 2, we’ll definitely be hearing about it in the coming months as the pre-release hype cycle continues throughout the holiday season.

All the sarcasm and spoilers aside, which have already been heavily hinted at in the trailer released today, it’s certain that season 2 will feature much of the same drama, action, and emotional heartbreak as the first. Personally, I’m curious if and where the narratives in games and TV series differ. What extra scenes could we get, what extra exposure… I’d love to know more!
