HBO has released the first footage second season With The last of usand that means things might look a little different for Joel Pedro Pascal than they do in the game. No, no This different, but it looks like he might be going to therapy.

The brief 24-second trailer shows off some familiar scenes from The Last of Us Part IIThese include a dance scene in which Ellie Belli Ramsey Kisses wickedflashes of figures such as Isaac Jeffrey Wright who leads the militaristic Washington Liberation Front, and a few looks at the Seraphites, a Seattle cult that also occupies the city. But one character seems to be someone completely recent. This person, played by Schitt’s Cove AND Home alone actor Catherine O’Haraappears to be Joel’s therapist. She is shown asking if he hurt Ellie, which he denies. Instead, he insists that he saved her.

This looks like a recent take on the opening scene The Last of Us Part IIin which Joel tells his brother Tommy about the brutal events of the first game’s finale. He ends his story with the same sentence: “I saved her.” So it seems that Joel may be confiding his murder of the Fireflies to someone other than the family on the show when it premieres on Max in 2025. The first season was pretty close to the original, but made some substantial changes Bill and Frank’s Relationshipand added completely recent characters such as Kathleen Melanie Lynskey.

Considering that HBO plans to cover the events Part two By many seasons series, it wouldn’t be surprising if he spent all that extra time improvising on more plot points and character arcs. The first season put a lot of emphasis on Joel’s Fearwhich the games only hinted at, so a unhappy father who eventually seeks professional assist seems consistent with the way the show portrays that side of him.

Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey will headline the second season, but HBO has announced that several recent cast members will play characters from The Last of Us Part II. Most importantly, Kaitlyn Dever to Play Abbyco-heroine of the sequel.
