I have to admit that even though I’m not the biggest fan of the entire series, I really enjoyed it Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Troy Baker’s solid portrayal of the titular whip slinger is absolutely on point. However, it appears that some players were having trouble using the iconic Indy item.
In the latest patch – aptly named Update 2 – MachineGames has sent out several fixes The Great Circle. For example, a few fixes were made to some missions where Gina wasn’t pulling her weight.
However, this was the one that stuck out in my memory the most official patch notes is the part saying that the studio has fixed an issue where the player “may not be able to equip Indy’s whip.” I was lucky not to encounter this problem, but imagine a world where you played Indiana Jones but couldn’t operate his whip. It would be like Spider-Man without the ability to shoot webs, Doom Guy without the Super Shotgun, or any other Keanu Reeves movie where he can’t say “whoa.”
I couldn’t stand it!
Update 2 also fixes a few PC-specific things in the game, mostly related to Nvidia. For example, the patch should address DLSS and low-latency mode performance issues. So if you play on PC, hopefully you’ll see some improvements in the future.
For all streamers, there’s a note at the bottom of the patch notes that content creators “may have experienced in-game crashes if using OBS Studio to capture video.” Updating OBS to version 31.0.0 should resolve this issue. I thought it was worth mentioning here.
Apart from that everything is as usual. As I wrote above, I think Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is a solid game overall, and I say that as someone who wasn’t particularly interested in MachineGames’ previous work (with the exception of Shock 2 maps the team made for the last remaster). Overall it’s getting pretty good reviews and maybe it will inspire me to watch the movies again.
