If you have played an action and adventure game The Dead Uprisingyou probably remember the moment when you enter a enormous outdoor park in a shopping mall and run into a group of prisoners in a military jeep. The group chases a woman and an ancient man, the savage prisoners kill the man, and then the cutscene ends. That’s when The wild rock song by Lifeseeker “Gone Guru” begins when the escaped prisoners start attacking you and the woman.

This is a renowned moment in the game that was fortunately saved for later. recently released remaster. But the guy who wrote that song and formed the band that played it still doesn’t know why Capcom chose “The Guru has passed away.”

In an interview given on September 19 Player, Lifeseeker Founder Marc Larivière explained how the song got into Dead Riseg. According to Lariviere, he was contacted through CD Baby’s website, where he was selling the Lifeseeker “Self Titled Debut Album”, which included the song “Gone Guru”.

“You could hear bits and pieces of the song there, so I guess someone who was looking up music for the game heard it there,” Lariviere said. “The person who contacted me told me that Capcom was interested in using ‘Gone Guru’ in a video game.” Lariviere agreed to a deal with Capcom, but he wasn’t told which game his song would appear in.

When he found out that the song was in The Dead Uprisingplayed the game and made it to the aforementioned iconic scene just to hear “Gone Guru.” He said Player that he was surprised that so many people picked up on the lyrics, since it’s actually hard to hear the song in the game. Funnily enough, while the singer finds the Dead Rising mall “appealing and weird” and appreciates the game’s difficulty that makes it “unique,” he had trouble playing it.

“I might have to try again this time. Maybe some of the updates will aid a more casual player like me,” Lariviere said.

When Lariviere heard about Dead Rising – Remastered – deluxe versionhe assumed Capcom would reuse the song, but was prepared to “move on” if it wasn’t included.

“When I heard they were using it, I smiled,” Lariviere said.

“Although it’s a bit archaic now, there are always fresh fans from The Dead Uprising publishers who go through the whole Lifeseeker catalog and find things they like and become fans. To witness that and know that a lot of your tough work has paid off and someone is elated with the stuff you’ve created is a great feeling.”
