The general director of Electronic Arts teases EA basketball back, just a month after the mysterious EA sports tweet restored this idea of basketball fans.

During today’s conversation about the earnings of Q1, the general director Andrew Wilson was asked about the potential return on university basketball, probably in response to the above tweet. According to reports in June and the above clever patenations, university basketball is actually coming back from EA, although it will take some time before we see them – This is not only in 2028.

Here is the unclear but promising answer of Wilson in full:

We can’t say too much about it yet, but if I think about the opportunity, returning to the place where we are in university football, the sports university has one of the most live fans in the world. And this certainly flows into basketball. We see that basketball fandom rush is still growing. Fans, athletes, universities pour their passion for these sports. And this passion makes it unique, it makes games differently.

But with this there are high expectations and demand for deeply legitimate experiences: capturing the action on the pitch or outside, representing energy, pagents, traditions and celebrating the unique views and sounds and stories of each school and competition. We feel that we deliver it incredibly well with university football … We would like to do the same for basketball. All 350 programs, teams of men and women, iconic traditions and competitions, and of course March Madness.

So for us university sports is generally an thrilling opportunity. We feel that we have done a really powerful job and we are involved in the context of university football. We believe that thanks to what we did with the teams, technology and our commitment to university football, we would have a great ability to do the same in university basketball, and when we try to activate this opportunity, we will be able to share more.

For reporting with AthleticThe EA Sports proposal regarding the university basketball game, which was recommended for approval by Collegiate Licensing Company, would include all teams of men and women in the division I (730 in total). Games, of which there would be six with editions starting in 2028, would have similar functions for university football, such as dynasty, team builder, road to glory and ultimate team.

EA recently produced a university basketball match in 2009, but the series was interrupted among disputes about the exploit of the similarities of university athletes and decreasing sales compared to the university football series. However, it seems that the success of university football aroused modern interest in EA basketball … although it may be in the face of competition with 2K Sports if This official post NBA 2K Twitter/x.
