The full version of the Fallout 1 remake mod for Fallout 4 is now available because there is not enough frigid stuff to play Fallout right now

So, as you know, we as Fallout fans have had a really strenuous time in terms of modders and companies doing things with the series that we like, so far in 2024. It definitely wasn’t like we had the Fallout TV series, the Fallout 76 stuff, and most recently the release of Fallout: London, all of which gave us Fallout stuff to do.

Well, if you still have room in your schedule for more Fallout-related stuff, I have some good news. The modding team behind Fallout: Vault 13, a project dedicated to remaking the first Fallout game as a Fallout 4 total conversion mod, has just delivered a demo that they previously recommended we all keep an eye out for when summer rolls around.

To play the demo, you’ll need to head over to Nexus Mods, where you’ll find it under exactly the name you’d expect:Fallout Vault 13 – DemoThe team says it will “be released as an Early Access Preview to gather player feedback.”

“In this demo,” the modders continue, “you’ll be able to explore a fully realized version of The Inyo, the first of five open-world areas that will be included in the full mod. You’ll be able to embark on a classic Fallout journey, revisit several locations from the original game (Vault 13, Vault 15, Shady Sands, Khan Base), and explore everything in between.”

There are a few hiccups in the demo that will be fixed in the full version, the biggest of which is the lack of any voice acting, only “placeholder blank lines of dialogue that can be skipped” due to time constraints. You’ll also need to follow the provided tips to avoid your character “disappearing from view” after changing their body in the character creator, and the skill system had to be scaled back in the demo due to a bug that meant “your skills will not automatically adjust after changing your SPECIAL stats.”

To play the demo, you’ll need Fallout 4 with all major add-ons (the GOTY edition will do). As with Fallout: London, Fallout 4 needs to be downgraded to its pre-next-gen version, 1.10.163, which you can do by using ‘Simple Fallout 4 Downgrader‘ Or ‘Fallout 4 Downgrader‘.

“You should also remove any Creation Club content from the Data folder if it is present there,” the team adds. “The only other requirement is Fallout 4 Script Extension (F4SE). A copy of Fallout 1 is not required.”
