Studio Sabotage has revealed Sea of Stars: Dawn of Equinox, a major free update that will add a fresh three-player local co-op mode, overhaul the combat system, revamp the prologue, and much, much more.
Dawn of Equinox will be released on November 12 and will once again be a completely free update to the game. Sea of Stars will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

It’s worth noting that this is separate Throes of the Watchmaker DLC – also a free version for game owners, which will appear in spring 2025.
Here’s a breakdown of the Dawn of Equinox update from Sabotage Studios:
- Brand fresh local co-op game – Up to three players will be able to play through the entire Sea of Stars story, and their allies will explore the world together and master fresh combat mechanics in co-operative Timed Hits mode.
- Combat 2.0 – The addition of Mystery Locks introduces a fresh gameplay loop, discovering ways to break enemy spells each time a fresh type is encountered in battle. In addition to “Discover” features added to some of the playable cast’s special abilities, Combo Points now remain after battle, offering fresh ways to open specific encounters or test different types of damage on enemies to reveal their locks. A comprehensive balance update has also been made to reflect both these fresh changes and player feedback since launch.
- Improved prologue – By implementing combat for juvenile versions of our heroes, the updated flow eliminates the flashback structure starting in their childhood, covering directly
