Have you ever been told to take your clothes off and go dance in the rain? Ricky Martin claimed that back in 1999, via Livin La Vida Loca, he had a song that you might not like, but you’ve almost certainly heard. The folks at PlayStation have definitely heard it, because they’ve added the tune to a playlist that came with what looks to be the first official announcement of the PS5 Pro project.
All this was packed into blog post detailing the steps the console maker will be taking this year to celebrate its 30th anniversary – a milestone that certainly won’t make anyone who grew up with the PS1 feel the least bit venerable.

This oddity appeared shortly after the leak was revealed car-only car have shared an illustration that they claim shows what the unannounced video game box will look like, as well as some obvious details about it.
This sketch shows a console that looked a lot like the PS5, but had three diagonal protrusions about halfway down the outer shell. If you look closely at the artwork that headlines the PlayStation 30th anniversary post, you’ll notice that it includes iconic shapes adorning the controller buttons, made from silhouettes of Sony hardware and peripherals from the past and present.
Sandwiched between the PlayStation logo and the three-in-three 30 is a device that looks like a mockup of the Pro, just resting there. Now, as always in these cases, it’s probably worth waiting for an official confirmation that doesn’t involve dragging the image into your editing program of choice or squinting at the screen like you’re playing The Good, the Bad and the Ugly before you get excited.
While you wait to see if a reveal happens, you should definitely check out the official PlayStation 30th Anniversary playlist that Sony included as part of the same blog post. It’s made up of “fan-favorite tracks from the past three decades that gamers listened to the most,” according to the console maker. So which iconic PlayStation nostalgia-filled tracks made it onto the list of 100 songs?
Well, there’s the aforementioned Livin La Vida Loca, Justin Timberlake’s SexyBack and, er, Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda. But don’t think that’s all, there are bangers covering a whole smorgasbord of flavours like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers’ Dani California, the Beastie Boys’ Intergalactic and Shakira’s Hips Don’t Lie. For the very current, PlayStation DJs have thrown in things like Doja Cat’s Paint the Town Red and 21 Savage’s Redrum.

Also 50 Cent’s Candy Shop and Snoop Dogg’s Drop It Like It’s Hot. Did PlayStation listen to the lyrics of the former? We’re not sure, but hey, at least it can teach the kids who watch this about the power of thinly veiled metaphors. Oh, and Adele’s Hello, and Oasis’ Wonderwall. Music, eh?
