Hey guys, this is the first massive update for the Silent Hill 2 remake after it came into everyone’s lives a week and a bit ago. What does it do? Well, it’s intended to aid curb some of penniless James’s petty antics and a few other things.
If you haven’t played this game yet, you probably should if you like horror games, as our scary nonsense expert Kelsey wrote in her review that it’s a good thing, one that’s both “accurate and downright terrifying.” . Funnily enough, these are the words I would operate to describe some of the more engaging mods that have come out for SH2 so far.

The most notable fixes include “an issue where interacting with the wrong side of the visor in Brookhaven Hospital would teleport James to the other side” and another where James would fall under the map when approaching Laura entering Brookhaven Hospital from the bushes on the left page.” Overall, your hospital visits are now less likely to result in a fault that could land James in the hospital.
This isn’t the end of Bloober’s efforts to stop James’ bad behavior. He should also no longer be “stuck in a window frame” after breaking a window near Neely’s Bar, should not be able to leave Hallway 3F at the Lakeview Hotel, or accidentally find his way to the balcony at the Blue Creek Apartments, which should be off-limits.
Oh, and he should finally be able to get over the little coffee table blocking him in the corner of his room at the Woodside Apartments (apparently that was an unintentional bogeyman), and he shouldn’t suddenly have a wooden board appear next to him if he dies, as if it were a shitty funeral gift. The patch also “improved the deformation of nurses’ skirts,” which is certainly a sentence.
In addition to a few other gameplay improvements, which you can check out in the full notes, both PC and PS5 have also received their own list of technical fixes that should hopefully reduce the risk of crashes or stutters on your platform of choice.
