The Embattled Divinity creator will host a Q&A with fans after a tough week

Published:

It should be a killer end to the year for Larian Studios, the developer of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Reached the highest level of settlements Game rewards just over a week ago when the novel Divinity game was announced in a statue stunt that had the industry turning heads for days.

But CEO Swen Vincke’s comments about generative AI in an interview with Bloomberg quickly turned scathing. Since then, several former employees have begun commenting on the studio, making all sorts of accusations about working conditions.

Now, in an attempt to regain control of the narrative, the studio has announced a New Year’s AMA with fans during which comments that were “lost in translation” will be clarified.

Vincke continued writing X (Or Twitter):

“It’s been a week since we announced Divinity, our next RPG, and a lot has been lost in translation. Larian’s DNA is agency. Everything we work on is for the benefit of our teams, games, and players. A better day at work, a better game. Our successes come from empowering people to work their own way and bring out the best in their skills and crafts, so we can make the best RPGs we can.”

Referring to generative artificial intelligence, the executive said that “it would be irresponsible for us not to evaluate new technologies,” but added that if “they are not effective or are not consistent with who we are, we will make changes.”

Vincke now intends to invite fans to ask questions own questions about their practices in 2026 as part of the AMA, which will involve several different departments and teams.

We hope this helps clarify the conversation, as Larian – one of the more beloved studios in the industry until the last few days – has recently found itself in the eye of a storm.

Let’s all take a breather and see what the studio has to say in the New Year, shall we?
