For many fans of looter shooters, it’s challenging to find a series as addictive as The Division. With two successful games in the series under its belt, Ubisoft clearly knows that this is a significant part of its ever-expanding catalog, so it’s no surprise that it’s challenging at work on a third installment. With the advent of newer hardware and a wealth of lessons learned from the first two games, Division 3 will surely be a success and solidify the series’ position as one of Ubisoft’s most beloved games.
We know Division 3 is in development at Massive Entertainment, with Julian Gerighty serving as executive producer. Beyond that, not much has been said about what to expect from the game. Still, here’s everything we know about Division 3.
Release date
Division 3 there’s currently no release date. And since the game hasn’t received a trailer yet, it’s protected to assume we probably won’t see it until 2025 — though stranger things have happened.
As of May 15, Ubisoft has canceled Heartland Divisionwhich was supposed to be a free spin-off set in the same universe as the first two games in the series. However, since that game was developed by Red Storm Entertainment, it doesn’t seem like the cancellation would speed up development Division 3Instead, Ubisoft said Red Storm Entertainment will “move on to new projects within our company, including XD Unfaithful and Rainbow Six.”
Platforms
No platforms have been announced for The Division 3. Judging by previous entries in the Division series, we expect the game to land on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC. Given the potential for Nintendo’s next console to finally be a bit more powerful than the Switch, there’s even a diminutive possibility it could eventually land on that platform as well. Only time will tell.
Multiplayer
The Division series is primarily solo-playable, but is designed around a mix of cooperative and competitive gameplay. If Division 3 follows in the footsteps of the first two games — and we have no reason to believe it won’t — fans can expect to work together on missions and raids, as well as battle other players in the Dark Zone.
Pre-order
Division 3 is not currently available for pre-order, but based on Ubisoft’s previous releases, players should expect multiple editions with tiers of additional goodies. More steep editions will likely include versions with the season pass for future DLC, as well as additional in-game goodies.
