Original Life is Strange developer Don’t Nod has announced that it has had a arduous start to the 2024/25 financial year, resulting in it suspending work on two projects.
Don’t Nod’s latest financial data report revealed that its recent release Juant and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden “did not achieve expected commercial results” and has therefore changed its future plans.
The studio, for example, is “temporarily pausing two projects in development,” allowing it to “prioritize resources and maximize the chances of success for titles with the highest potential today.”
This will seemingly push Lost Records: Bloom & Rage to the forefront after a “particularly positive reception” at Gamescom, Don’t Nod said. The first part of this episodic, narrative adventure is expected in February 2025.
“We are obviously disappointed with our recent performance in an extremely competitive and selective market,” said president and CEO Oskar Guilbert.
“Despite excellent critical reception, Juant and Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden unfortunately did not achieve the commercial results we had hoped for, which resulted in a decline in our H1 2024 results and forced us to consider all possible options in our roadmap. “
As of March 2024, Don’t Nod has seven games in development, including two that are currently on hold. The figure was revealed as part of an internal restructuring that saw the creation of three divisions focusing on role-playing games, narrative adventure games and action-adventure games respectively.
