Thronefall is a nice, minimalist mix of tower defense and strategy where you build a base during the day and defend it from monstrous hordes at night. It was released in Early Access last August and has been wowing people with its nippy color palette ever since. Now it’s 1.0.
Update 1.0 adds three fresh levels, fresh weapons including a battle ax and a blood wand, and some quality of life changes, including the ability to see future waves of enemies so you can plan your defense accordingly. There is more described on Steam.

Figuring out what to spend your money on is really the only thing you need to consider here. Of course, with fixed maps and fixed building nodes, you might think that steaming can’t be combined with having fun. After all, what’s the point of having a strategy if the game takes you down a set and specific route every time? But that’s why Thronefall is so damn brilliant, because when enemies spawn every night from different attack angles (thankfully marked on the map beforehand), it claws right at the right set of tactical, puzzling brain cells, making it feel devilishly more .
