Ten years later original Destiny it’s still around and doing great, and it won’t cost you much to go back to Bungie’s venerable shooter. Price for everything Destiny 1DLC and expansions in one straightforward package currently cost just $20.
Purpose – collectionusually still $60 (???), has been marked down by 66 percent (By Game post). This includes both first-year DLCs –Darkness below AND House of Wolves– but also The King was taken away AND The rise of iron extensions. There’s even a character boost up to level 40, in case you want to skip all the grinds at the beginning of the game. However, I would argue with this. Point of return to vanilla Destiny in 2024 is to experience the ups and downs of the early vision of running a live MMO free from the loot rat race.
For a veteran, returning now is like visiting an venerable high school; a mix of fond memories and haunting ghosts that briefly transports us to a past version of the world and ourselves. For everyone else, it’s a chance to enjoy some truly brilliant mission design, combat encounters, and overall art direction from master craftsmen. One sec Destiny 2 has improved over the past in so many ways that there’s still no replacement for the simplicity and purity of those year one story missions and twilight bosses.
Even raids, many of which have been redesigned Destiny 2Take on a different feel with improved shooter kits and equipment from the first game. Then there’s Wrath of the Machine The rise of iron raid that still remains exclusive Destiny 1. There’s still nothing like it in the current game, and if it is eventually added, it still won’t be the same.
Look no further than the Ice Breaker, a sniper rifle that regenerates ammo and hits like a locomotive. It was repeated in Destiny 2current episode of Revenant, but it’s not the same. And my favorite thing with Destiny 1 Didn’t Come Back at All : Self-Rezzing Warlocks. Apparently it would be “bad for the meta” or something. So I would love for Bungie to find the space and resources to create the right Blizzard style Purpose: classic remaster at some point, it basically still exists and works fine on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Honestly, I still can’t believe how stunning the venerable skyboxes look. I’ll catch you in the Ishtar sink on Venus.
