The Borderlands 4 trailer is coming soon, but how do we know about it? Because Gearbox’s CEO said so, even though he clearly didn’t mean to

Definitely, absolutely, 100% a modern Borderlands 4 trailer is on the way, we’re just not supposed to know about it from a technical standpoint.

Look, we all make mistakes, but as a CEO of a company, you’d think you’d be more careful when making them. On the other hand, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has never been known for being anything other than himself, and yesterday he shared the news that a modern Borderlands 4 trailer is on the way! “I’m making a new trailer for Borderlands 4 and it’s awesome,” Pitchford wrote on his personal Twitter account, seemingly without a hint of irony. “I shouldn’t talk about this yet, but idfaf. I’m freaking out ALREADY, yo.” Someone later asked him to send a thumbnail along with the CEO replying with a GIF from the end of the first trailer, saying: “The first frames of the trailer are the last frames of the trailer. Yes, I’m a troll and I’m joking. Deal with it.”

Now, as Pitchford himself notes, he shouldn’t have announced the release of the trailer at all! Why did he do it? Literally only he knows! But in another answer he also indicated that he did not want “shit on the publishing and communication team” because they are “professionals and know what they are doing, and my bullshit can ruin plans and deals and shit.” I think he’s only just now aware of this post considering he just shared a word about the inevitable trailer event, but what will you do! Well, if you work at Gearbox, seemingly scold Pitchford.

“So…my phone is going to explode,” CEO – he wrote in a later tweet. “I guess I shouldn’t share that we have a trailer. My mistake. Sorry. “I’m not sorry.” In a follow-up tweet, he also noted that “what’s done is done so… I’m not deleting. If you don’t hear from me within a week, please call 911.” Sure, Randy, whatever!

Given that there’s not much left until the end of the year, we can probably safely assume that this trailer will appear next week at The Game Awards, which isn’t too far away as it starts on December 12 at 7:30 PM EST .
