After the ALGS Split 2 Playoffs concluded, a brand recent series was announced. The BLGS Open Tournament is a series that will take place between the Split 2 Playoffs and the Championships in Year 4 in early 2025. You can enjoy matches throughout the tournament and avoid the typical downtime between events.
BLGS will run immediately following the 2024 ALGS Split 2 Playoffs in October 2024 across five tournament weekends. Jack “NiceWigg” Martin and Athanasios “Greek” Alestas, the casters who do a great job hosting B-streams for all ALGS events, will be the focus of BLGS. Throughout the event, teams from around the world will compete for a combined $400,000 prize pool across the series. As an ALGS fan, I truly appreciate how the series will bridge the gap between ALGS LAN and keep esports alive each week.
Apex Legends until January
Historically, there have always been fairly long breaks between ALGS LAN events. While the qualifiers that take place in between are fun to watch, Split 1, Split 2, and Championship are the main events that everyone comes back for.
BLGS gives you a reason to keep Apex Legends esports in mind. It’s going to be an open tournament with a wider range of teams playing. Of course, you want to see more of the best of the best competing for huge prizes. But I like that BLGS offers smaller, much lesser-known teams a chance to compete for real cash prizes in front of a enormous portion of the ALGS audience.
It’s an open tournament centered around our B-stream, hence the name BLGS! NiceWigg and Greek are such an integral part of the ALGS ecosystem and community, and are almost synonymous with the ALGS brand. So, we’ve really wanted to run a series of tournaments around them for a while now. Considering that Champs is in January, this pocket, this window of opportunity, was perfect for us to do it.

Since the launch of the ALGS in 2020, the fan base has grown with each event. The 2024 Split 2 Playoffs was the most attended event in Europe and is only set to grow as we enter our 4th year with Worlds in Japan in 2025.
I usually attend ALGS LAN conferences, but I’m excited to know that for the next five weeks I’ll be able to sit down on the weekend and turn on BLGS to enjoy it a little more Apex Legends esports. I think a lot of fans will be excited about this, especially because it’s an event that everyone can participate in from home.
