Although 4x is not a genre that can be directly associated with mobile devices, it is still quite popular on our favorite platform. This is certainly the case with today’s topic, the Battle of Politopia. Seeing as you’re trying to, well, conquer Polytopia has just had a major overhaul of one of its main factions!
Longtime players will already be familiar with the insectoid-themed Cymanti. However, they are receiving a completely up-to-date rework that includes major changes to the way the game is played. Firstly, their basic Alg aspect has been completely changed from enhancing the tile to the tile itself.
This means that you can now not only build additional algae-based upgrades, but also get a free piece of Aphea Nectar (at the cost of no longer gaining pop). Algae will no longer sluggish naval units, but will still sluggish land units. Speaking of units, that’s where further changes are being made!
Unity)
For starters, Raychi has been split into a established naval unit, still called the same, and aptly titled Boomchi, which, well, explodes. They are joined by the Living Island, a giant algae-spreading creature that can be used to transport land units through water.
As for the land side, major fixes and changes have been made (you can check them out in official blog). But one of the biggest changes is replacing the Swordsman with a Mantis, replacing Cloaks with a Moth, and modifying the transformation units, which means they will no longer regenerate health after transforming!
All this significantly changes the strategic aspect of the Battle of Politopia. But for many of you, this will barely be a hindrance. So if you think you really know how to rule and conquer, check out our list of the best strategy games for Android to see more of our top picks?
