The long-awaited action game Phantom Blade Zero, which is no different from Black Myth: Wukong, has received a great up-to-date trailer, but it still has no release date.
The Year of the Snake gameplay trailer below shows the game’s hero Phantom Blade Zero in a boss fight against the Chief Disciple’s Fallen Hope, a puppet-themed villain who fights a squad of puppets before going to the strings himself.
Fans hoping for a firm release date for Phantom Blade Zero are out of luck, however, as Chinese developer S-Game still hasn’t revealed when players will be able to play the game beyond the unclear 2025 release window.
The studio reported Eurogamer Phantom Blade Zero, however, is a “refined” title, as evidenced by the demos shown last year. It is currently in the process of “pushing the boundaries even further” using Unreal Engine 5, which is due to a “significant” budget boost.
The Year of the Snake gameplay trailer ended with a display of snake-themed weapons. Weapon Number 13 is called the Soft Serpent Sword and has a versatile metal blade that can quickly cut through enemies, while Weapon Number 27 is a combination of the White Serpent and Crimson Viper immense sword and brief sword.
Despite comparisons to Black Myth: Wukong, which came out in 2024 and was a runaway success, Phantom Blade Zero leans more towards the action genre than the software-inspired Souslike.
It was announced in May 2023, but S-Game hasn’t said much about it since then. This will likely change as the 2025 release date for PC and PlayStation 5 approaches, although fans will just have to wait patiently for that to be announced.
