From time to time I like a good fight in the fighting game, and Tekken with Bandai Namco was my favorite 3D warrior. Conveniently, I am also a fan of board games, so when these two passions mix with each other, for example Guilty Gear Strive Or Street Fighter V Board games, I make sure I check them. Now thanks to the successful Crowdfunding campaign Over On Game FoundThe time has come for King of Iron Fists to enter the cardboard box with Tekken: board game.
The game is created by GO On Ins, Witcher publisher: Old World I Cyberpunk 2077- board game among others. I had the opportunity to get a few celebrations with the prototype of Tekken: board game, kindly sent to me by a programmer, and I must say that it could have told the feeling of “reading your opponent” in a video game better than any other board game I played.
In Tekken, two players (the final edition will include solo mode and the optional extension of the tournament for a maximum of eight) choose from their favorite fighters and Duke it out until the life of one player disappears. The characters I had to try, and this will be included in the basic game, are Jin, Kazuya, Paul, King, Nina, Asuka, Yoshimitsu and Jack-8, each with detailed minis with the character and a fairly clever, colorful accent.
Playing Tekken’s match is a bit like playing rock-paper-nosiss and is quite speedy to receive and learn. The matches are also compact, they take 10 to 15 minutes. The attacks are dictated by cards that you play in front of you, which show not only the area in which they aim, or high, half or low, but also the effects and injuries that the attack will perform, indicated by the icons.
At any time, only one person is in the attack, putting cards and trying to determine damage. The idea of this system is born of the need to keep Tekken a quick and animated sense, go on board, said Ign. “To really capture the dynamic feeling of video, we needed a mechanic who keeps a fast and tension fight. In Tekken, reading the opponent’s intentions and reacting at the perfect moment is key-blocking a key attack can break the combination and reverse the battle wave.” Guess that the mechanical personification of the right card “. It is that it is how I press on a gathering for control, it comes from a business, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply, but simply. Bet, but simply, but. Bet, but simply, but. Bet, but. Bet, but. Bet, but. A deep understanding of the opponent and predicting their movements.
For a defensive player, the only goal is to read the opponent and attempt to guess which area will aim at the attachment card, indicated by the card played face in front of them. Proper guessing will stop the attack on his songs, and the player’s defender becomes the attacker, and their first attack is unlocked. Guessing badly, however, he will not only allow the attack to go and connect, but the player who played on the card, continues the attack and is able to play another card, expanding the combination and potentially releasing additional bonuses based on specific combinations of their characters or how the lanes on the cards can change.
Only three attacks may occur before reversing the role, except for the heat, which can be taken by any player, which allows you to play one additional attack, or allows the player to continue the attack after the defensive player assumes correctly.
This element of trying to read the opponent to guess what they intend to do next is an integral part of the fight against video games. Condensation in such a way on one on three opportunities to guess correctly, it works shocking. Actions that can cause an attack are also rather simple: you can deal damage, move your form, push your opponent or sweep your opponent, causing them to fall, allowing you to deal additional damage. A special attack of your character is a bit more complicated, but my friends and I never felt overwhelmed.
Tekken also uses mechanics that make you feel like you play, well, Tekken. Pushing the opponent into the wall causes a reflection of the wall, dealing damage. You can break through the stage walls or floors into other areas and throw away this additional birth on earth. Even the small arenas you fight on feel very similar to Tekken, giving enough space to move, but not so much that he turns with the opponent into duty.
Tekken was never aimed at playing and throwing fiery balls on himself; Instead, it is about approaching and allowing destructive combinations of impacts and a blow to a blow, and I think that go to the deck perfectly captured this spirit. “Every warrior in Tekken: The board game seems really unique thanks to the combination of project elements. Each character has a clear on -board composition, combination structure and rage, which reflects their iconic style of video game. Some characters also contain unique components or mechanics that make them even more.”
When the game appears, warriors will have many ways to check Tekken and prove themselves. The basic box contains eight warriors (Jin, Kazuya, King, Paul, Jack-8, Yoshimitsu, Asuka and Nina) and four stages (Sanctum, City Square, descent to the subconscious and the stratosphere). Or, if you just want to taste, a starter set with Jin and Kazuya and a descent into the subconscious will also be available.
But every fan of Tekken knows that one of the definition aspects of the series are its characters, and go on board is to run many of them through various sets of extensions that can be bought separately. They include the following information.
Expansion 1

Asked about what made the decision about the pairs of the characters, the design team not only wanted to create sets that played well, but also those that made sense from the narrative. “When creating character packages, we took into account a few key aspects. We wanted each box to contain characters that work well with each other, but also share significant narrative connections. For example, a package from Juna, Xiaoyu, Panda and Leroy with the Yakushima board was designed in this way, because Yakushima is a scene of Jun, who once is the scene of Jun. Fefft of the Jacks, trying to Sanctumima.
With so many characters, including my personal favorite Leo, Steve and Hwarang, who appear, he has pumping my blood and I can’t wait to see them play. Even in the core box I could already say that it was taken care of emphasizing the characteristics of the heroes so that they would feel different from each other, such as the king’s ability to throw opponents or a special circle of Yoshimitsu, which allows you to live on a potential huge payment. I can’t wait to see how all other characters feel.
From various stage threats, speedy learning systems and very detailed miniatures, Tekken: The Board Game quickly shot my list as one of my most anticipated board games next year. I am worried that with how much they promise, some risk feeling themselves. Time will show how the team is able to avoid this potential trap, but considering that by accepting the extension approach with the characters, without dealing with something like an incomparable, means that fans can choose and choose those packages that they want, and are not required to buy them all. Even Core Box offers variety. You can have fun with it.
While Tekken’s initial campaign is over, tardy promises will soon start with the expected delivery date of 2026, but if you want to try yourself, go to the arena of board games now or check WIPS rules.
