Earlier this month, Private Division announced a delay Tales of the Shire: The Lord of the Rings Gamemoving it to early 2025. It didn’t take them long take the right stepsand this peaceful, furry simulation is scheduled for release on March 25, 2025.
Official accounts have shared a trailer along with a modern release date. The folks at Weta Workshop open it with a thunderous statement that “Tales from the Shire Is Lord of the Rings gaming experience like no other.” A much quieter voice echoes him, briefly mentioning how the team has used their years of experience with Tolkien’s work to create something that draws heavily on that source material.
“Most importantly, it’s a game about life as a hobbit,” they add. Judging by the release date trailer, the game has a solid shot at that particular niche.
For Tolkien nerds, the significance of March 25th is probably self-explanatory. But for everyone else: after a journey lasting 11 months, a week, and six days, the One Ring and Sauron were finally destroyed on March 25 of the Third Age, 3019.

Tales of the Shire: The Lord of the Rings Game is in the works for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC. Unless they pull off a brutal trick, something tells me we won’t have to worry about the nasty cleaning of those idyllic sleeping quarters.
