15 more games are being added PS Plus Extra AND PS Plus Premium this month, as always, we want to know what you think of the lineup. At first glance, August’s selection is what we’d call… compelling.
Extra starts off mighty with the all-time great RPG that is The Witcher 3, which includes a much-improved PS5 re-release in 2022. We also recommend Wild Hearts, the Monster Hunter-style action RPG that was almost completely overlooked when it came out last year.
Meanwhile, Cult of the Lamb is a highly-rated indie hit, and RIDE 5 is for those who need speed on two wheels. Admittedly, things get a little shaky when Boruto: Shinobi Striker is joined by Watch Dogs 2 and Naruto. Both games were previously available on PS Plus.
And then… well, we hope you enjoy Sword Art Online! To be fair, some of the SAO games are pretty solid—we had a blast with both Hollow Realization and Fatal Bullet when we reviewed them years ago, but the anime adventures certainly aren’t for everyone.
Moving on to Premium, that is, um, time for TimeSplitters. The classic shooter series is clearly back with a bang, and having three games appear at once is a nice bonus.
