Find out what our incredibly attractive, talented and humble team has planned for the weekend
Hello, welcome to our latest edition of The Wrapp.
This is a chance for you to see what various members of the Pocket Gamer team are planning to play this weekend, and will hopefully give you an idea of some of the weird and wonderful things we get up to when we’re not there so you can keep up to date with the latest news and tips. Heck, you might even find a fresh game to play.

I’m not going to lie, I’ll be playing Mankey Community Day in Pokemon Go this Sunday! Niantic actually challenged ambassadors to donate to food banks, so we’re doing that – which we usually do every month. It will be electrifying to see how Community Day plays out rather than the usual Raid Hour.
I’m currently playing a lot of Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket, although at the moment I’m participating in Lapras Battles, which seems exhausting. The game itself requires a long wait.
I’m *still* playing Neopets: Faerie Fragments, currently at level 246 which is the hardest level yet. I’ve been stuck for two days now, trying multiple times a day. Sometimes it really does seem like a lot. Lots of the same from me this weekend.

During my last rehab session, I was told that injured muscles take 6 to 8 weeks to heal, which means I won’t be watching Zenless Zone Zero gameplay for the rest of the year. It also means more pockets for the Pokemon Trading Card games, which I’ve been strangely obsessed with lately, between my Neko Atsume and the Capybara.
I currently have a fixed set of decks for all elements and I’m struggling to get fresh badges from the Apex Genetic Emblem event just because I like shiny fresh things. I’m hoping to get more wins this weekend – or at least send more friend requests to the players I’m competing against so I can Wonder Pick their decks later. Yes! You can never have too many cards.

Dave is currently overseas for our Pocket Gamer Connects Jordan event and will likely be too busy to play any games (except maybe Balatro if he finalized the purchase as he speculated last week).

Due to recent events, I’m looking for additional ways to disconnect from reality, and continuing my search for the best mobile games is a good way to do that. It started with finding a good horror game for mobile devices, but it didn’t yield the best results (at least considering my horror preferences). We talked on the podcast about whether or not the best games have endings, but I’ve come across a lot of mobile games that I’ve found fulfilling.
There’s one more factor I need to keep in mind: ease of access. If I go out for coffee or something, will it be simple for me to pull out this game and play a bit, or do I have to go completely into game mode? Is it simple to play actively waiting or do I have to be relaxed as if I were on a break? I’ll go back to the Dadish trilogy and see what similar games it takes me to, maybe the best mobile game featuring dads.

This is a uninteresting update for me this week as I plan on playing more Pokemon TCG Pocket where I’m enjoying building my collection. That little rush I feel every time I pack a sporadic or EX is what makes the whole thing so compulsive. I do have a few issues with the battles though, though a few quality of life changes could fix them. For example, there is no need to flip a coin to paralyze a Pokemon if the attack will reduce its HP to zero anyway. It simply prolongs the whole look unnecessarily and removes some of the shine.
Outside of mobile, I will be launching The Iron Rig DLC for Dredge. I played the base game earlier this year and it stayed in my mind long after I earned the platinum trophy, quickly becoming one of my favorite indie games of all time. Considering I rate it so highly, you can imagine my excitement when a mobile version was recently announced. I didn’t need much of an excuse to catch more weird nightmares, but it’s always good to have one.

This weekend is full of games for me. I’m sure everyone familiar with Teamfight Tactics knows about the fresh upcoming set themed around Arcane (Riot Games’ popular show on Netflix). Before the fresh set comes out, I plan on getting to the Grandmaster. As you can imagine, it can be a grind – an hour-long grind.
Apart from playing endless TFT, I plan to eat something and sleep for an hour or two. Phew, it’s one of those moments when you want to really work on something in the game (in my case, rank) and you think back to all the times you could have spent an hour or two a day to make up for that time. By next week’s summary we will be in the fresh set. Well, I guess I wish you luck?

Easy mode. I will be playing more Pokemon TCG Pocket, I plan to make much more progress in completing the dex. I currently have 172 of 226 in the Genetic Apex deck and 13 Promo A cards, which seems like a decent dent, but I’d like to recap it as I continue to develop my strategy for beating the current PvP event: Genetic Apex Emblem Event 1.
Plus, the substantial plan is to drive across the country to visit friends for a housewarming party and possibly visit a local Christmas market. Then we go back to the Mankey Community Day that Jupiter mentioned, and well, everything else is a bonus.
My Balatro rhythm slowed down when I had a crash after the third peg that left me tired, but I’m hoping to find some time to sit down with my Checkered Deck and give it another try.
