You know what’s better than games about killing Nazis? Killing wannabe Nazi demon summoners. At least that’s the concept of Sumerian Six, a recently released stealth strategy game from Devolver Digital’s Artificer developer studio, in which five scientist commandos and a werebear are sent out to stop evil Nazis from doing evil Nazi things.
But you know, on the sly: “Lead an unlikely group of scientist-commandos behind enemy lines to battle Nazis, uncover arcane secrets, and use experimental technology to change the course of World War II in this tactical, real-time stealth adventure,” the official description reads.
Sumerian Six clearly picks up the torch that stealth strategy fans have missed since the incredible Mimimi games closed last year. The interface, visuals, and gameplay all take inspiration from Mimimi’s Shadow Tactics and Shadow Gambit in the same way that other 90s RTSs took inspiration from Command & Conquer.
Early players were very positive about the game, and Sumerian Six collected as much as 95% positive user reviews on the Steam platform.
Sumerian Six looks particularly frigid due to the variety of enemies and the special abilities available to the characters you control when sneaking around. It’s a far cry from the more sedate gameplay of Commandos or Desperados, where there’s very little magic going on—your Sumerian Six men employ super-science to transform into bears.
You can find Sumerian Six on Steam for $30, where a free demo version is also available.
