Starfield reportedly set for the PS5 release in spring 2026 with fresh expansion

Apparently, Bethesda is preparing a very enlarged version of PlayStation 5 Starfield in spring 2026, which will be next to the fresh expansion.

According to MP1STStarfield was pushed out of 2025 “partly due to poor sales of the first expansion, broken space.” Shatted Space, which was launched in September 2024, to the “mainly negative” assessment of the Steam Users’ Review, an extension took place this year as part of the annual release schedule.

Ign asked Bethesd to comment.

The launch of PS5 apparently coincides with the release of the second Starfield extension and other quality of life updates. MP1ST said that he did not expect an announcement in Gamescom later this month or the upcoming shadow, as Suprolls IV: Oblivion Remastered used.

The question of whether Bethesda can leave Starfield to focus on other franchises is a motive that has been spent since the release. In June 2024, Bethesda insisted that she remained involved in supporting StarfieldAnd it has been confirmed that at least one other history extension was issued after Shatted Space. And in an interview with YouTube channel mrmattyplaysTodd Howard from Bethesda Game Studios said that the programmer strives to release the annual expansion of the story “I hope for a long time”.

But since then there was not much news, leading Starfield players to express dissatisfaction at the level of communication coming out of Bethesd in the future of the game, With the lack of shows at the June shox games showcase for some for some straws.

Starfield started in September 2023 as the first completely fresh IP Bethesda for 25 years, and then reached 15 million players. But it was not as well received as the previous games of studies in Fallout and Elder Scrolls franchise, and the extension of the shattered space did nothing to improve sentiments.

The head of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer later revealed that he talked to the boss of development of Bethesd Todd Howard on the term of office of issuing the content of Starfield. “Todd and I talked about the destroyed space,” said Spencer. “Starfield is a game in which I put a lot of hours in and I really love, but they had something in which they added functions all year round, and then they had an extension. I think that some opinions on the extension are:” We wanted more functions. ” And he says: “Well, should we wait to spend Buggie?”

“And so I think that you are trying to tune both developmental effort and the impact of expansion. And I think that there will always be a balance in managing the game from month to month. But not every game will expand.”

Ultimately, however, Shatted Space was more criticized due to a lack of spatial content than a lack of grounds. As Ign wrote in ours Starfield Shatted Space Review: “If I can say that there is absolutely nothing added to Spacefarers outside now, you have a way to justify getting Va’run ships instead of stealing them from the enthusiasts who attack you in space. All right, because the extension does not always have to sensibly expand every aspect of the game – but I was surprised that there was not at least a token that is not in itself.

Last week, Bethesda finally broke the silence in the future Starfieldinsisting that he is still working on updates and would provide detailed information on the “exciting things” he planned in the coming months.

Bethesda was seriously affected by the latest round of Microsoft’s release, with cuts at the London office and Zenimax Online Studios. His unannounced MMORPG was canceled and his veteran studio gave way.
