Stardew Valley creator explains why chickens are disappearing in update 1.6 and blames it on a wild coyote

Published:

Stardew Valley creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone finally released update 1.6 on consoles and mobile devices today, but there’s one little problem – everyone’s chickens are disappearing.

The developer warned players about the disappearance of poultry in post on X/Twitter. He says those who set up a novel farm in the meadows and open the doors to animals on the first day will find their chickens disappearing. This is a public service announcement to inform players that there is a tiny issue with Update 1.6 and a fix is on the way. Until the next update arrives, ConcernedApe says players can blame their missing chickens on a sneaky coyote that only appears on the first day.

It’s unclear when Stardew Valley will fix the missing chicken issue. Meanwhile, update 1.6 introduces a number of other changes and additions for those still delving into the hugely popular cozy farming sim. Following him will be released on PC in March last yearthe update dropped today on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One (you can see the full patch notes Here), adding the ability to find lost items, exploit cheat commands on certain platforms, and more. ConcernedApe recommends that players set up a novel farm to see everything that Update 1.6 has to offer, which is why it’s so essential to spread the word about this pesky coyote to everyone.

We gave Stardew Valley a 10/10 in our update Review 2024calling it “a modern classic with an endless list of tempting activities to do and a deeply satisfying time management challenge.” For more information about ConcernedApe’s agricultural masterpiece, you can read about how the creator just… last week he managed to get the hardest achievement in the game.
