The 2002 GameCube and PlayStation 2 action-adventure game Star Wars: Bounty Hunter will be rebooted and re-released on PC, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Nintendo Switch on August 1 for $19.99.
The game created by LucasArts, already 22 years aged, is a prequel to Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and allows you to play as Jango Fett, who is hired to capture the Dark Jedi. As you’d expect, Jango has two blasters, a flamethrower, toxic darts and jet missiles.
This is another Star Wars revival from Aspyr, which is still working to repair this year’s disastrous launch of Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. Star Wars: Bounty Hunter is said to have visual improvements, improved environmental textures, modern animated lighting effects, and a modern flashlight tool for navigating through dim places. There’s Steam Deck support and a number of DualSense controller features for PS5 gamers.
Aspyr said for the first time ever that if the campaign is completed, players will be able to unlock a modern Boba Fett skin for their next playthrough, “thereby paying off a notorious Easter egg from the original game.”
As explained in A Post on the PlayStation Blog by Chris Bashaar, Chief Product Officer at Aspyr, the original Star Wars: Bounty Hunter has a very low-resolution texture with a message written in Aurebesh: “Use all rewards to play as Bob.”
“Even though the message existed, the function did not exist,” Bashaar explained. “So even if your save file reaches 100%, you will only be able to play as Jango Fett.
“We’ve brought this fun fact to life so that when you complete the campaign, you’ll be able to equip the new Boba Fett skin for your next playthrough.”
Here is the list of key features detailed by Aspyr:
- Let’s start the hunt: In this classic third-person action adventure game, you play as Jango Fett, the First Clone of the Grand Army of the Republic, hired to capture the deranged Dark Jedi.
- Experience a timeless story: Experience the legendary Bounty Hunter fantasy set before the events of Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones. Take on enemies and maneuver in acrobatic battles in this adaptation optimized for state-of-the-art consoles and hardware.
- Armed to the teeth: Blast through the galaxy’s underworld equipped with dual blasters, a flamethrower, a whip, and pure Mandalorian rage.
Here’s a list of features exclusive to PS5:
Integrated adaptive triggers: Each weapon in Jango’s arsenal now has a unique rhythm.
Voice communication: We redirected Jango’s in-game radio communications to play through the DualSense wireless controller’s speaker, providing a completely modern, immersive experience.
The lithe bar connects to the health bar: Use the lithe bar on your controller as a visual indicator of Jango’s current health status.
