Ubisoft has released a hefty patch for Star Wars Outlaws after the game’s Early Access launch and ahead of its full release on August 30, and it’s bringing a large hitch for PS5 players, potentially forcing them to restart the game. It’s not looking good, Ubisoft…
Version 1.000.002 is now available on all platforms – Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC – weighs in at around 8.5GB and includes the following very brief patch notes:
- Adds 40fps support for compatible displays
- Solves performance issues
- Numerous bug fixes throughout the game
Exclusively for PS5, though Ubisoft Note “We’re aware of an issue in Star Wars Outlaws where some PlayStation 5 players may be playing on an outdated version of the game.”
The only way to fix this issue is to install update version 1.000.002 and start a fresh game to avoid “any potential problems and roadblocks.”
This is so critical to a player’s progress in the game that they even send emails to early players to encourage them to make sure they download the update and restart the game, potentially robbing them of hours of gameplay. Unfortunately, these emails are it seems like after 4-5 hours of playlong after applying the patch.
Fortunately, we haven’t had any issues while reviewing the game over the past week, and it’s possible that this isn’t the case for all players. Given the time, it’s also quite likely that most players are already in the updated game before starting the game.
We had a pretty good time in the Star Wars universe, with Gamoc saying in our review: “Star Wars Outlaws is an open-world roguelike that clearly draws on Ubisoft’s familiar format, but that’s not a bad thing. The reputation system is particularly interesting, as the constant fluctuations negate any loyalty you might otherwise have, but most importantly, this game lets you simply be in a persistent Star Wars universe. It’s not perfect, but stealing for crime syndicates, fighting the Empire, racing across alien landscapes, and more is a dream come true.”
