Star Wars Outlaws’ ‘unfair’ instant stealth mission fails are a ‘bug,’ developer admits, patch coming next week

Published:

The lead developer of Star Wars Outlaws has announced that a patch will be released to address the controversial stealth missions that were failing.

Creative director Julian Gerighty admitted that GamesRadar missions were “incredibly punishing,” so they’ll be fixed soon. “To me, that’s a bug and something we’ll be working on to fix,” he said.

“I don’t think it means completely removing the state of failure, but I think there are millions of low-hanging fruits that we can use to make it a lot more enjoyable and understandable.”

Gerighty continued, “I think it’s unfair. And believe it or not, that wasn’t our intention. It’s more something that crept in over the last week or two that we’re already correcting for a patch that’s going to be out maybe in 10 days.”

Gerighty posted this comment on September 7, 2024, so after 10 days the patch will be released next Tuesday, September 17.

Presumably, this is just one of the ways Gerighty plans to improve Star Wars Outlaws, as the artistic director has already said he’s “a little disappointed” with the review ratings and that’s why he wants to keep improving it for a long time.

In our 7/10 review of the game, IGN stated, “Star Wars Outlaws is a fun intergalactic heist adventure with great exploration, but it’s let down by simple stealth, repetitive combat, and a few bugs early on.”

Ubisoft shares have fallen in value following the release of Star Wars Outlaws, with some analysts predicting lower-than-expected sales for the game. Ubisoft has yet to comment on the results.
