Saber Interactive is in trouble Remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic it’s reportedly still in development – and a KOTOR 2 remake could also be on the way.
The latest update to the long-in-the-works Star Wars remake comes from: a Game file a report he pulls from court documents related to false advertising lawsuit initiated against Saber’s Aspyr Media and Lucasfilm in 2023. Files related to the lawsuit were recently filed, which concerned cancellation of the Restored Content Modification (RCM) for the Nintendo Switch KOTOR 2 re-releaseappear to contain both updates to the KOTOR remake and mentions of a mysterious project known as “Juliet.”
Attorney Ray Kim pressed for details about Project Juliet during Lucasfilm Games vice president Douglas Reilly’s testimony. The Star Wars vice president’s response left no room for ambiguity.
“Juliet was the code name for the project where we were going to do a full remake of KOTOR II with modern graphics, modern gameplay, you know, keeping the story, the characters and all – the general content of KOTOR II, but remake it on modern hardware and modern machines with updated graphics and things like that,” Reilly said. “It was something Aspyr and I talked about.”
As for the long-lost KOTOR 2 content, Reilly explained that “the plan was that we would rework the content that was on RCM as it related to Star Wars in this Juliet project.” For now, it’s unclear whether the KOTOR 2 remake will still be in development, with Reilly’s latest update stating that Juliet has been “technically on the roadmap” since March 2025. If Saber continues to work on the game, it appears that the plan is to include the entire experience, even the RCM content, in the final version of the recent version.
Many other details about the rumored KOTOR 2 remake remain under wraps, but the good news is that Reilly says that “we’re starting with a KOTOR 1 remake,” explaining that “Aspyr is not working on those games.” Instead, a KOTOR remake is now said to be in the hands of the team behind Hellraiser: Revival at Mad Head Games.
This is another update to the remake of the classic Star Wars video game that came first announced already in 2021. It has since earned its place among other gaming projects that have yet to see the featherlight of day, with previous updates leaving fans with low expectations that reimagining it could ever happen. Still, Saber has been positive about its KOTOR remake in recent months, telling fans in March that “everything we talked about is still in development.”
