Agatha All Along’s massive twist has some Marvel comic book fans thinking about Thanos, but unfortunately there isn’t the connection many might want.

Those who know Thanos well know that his movie counterpart is actually very different from his original comic book version. In the movies, his whole thing is that he wants to restore balance to the universe because of… eh, overpopulation or something, I don’t really remember, it was stupid. However, in the comics, he wants to kill the entire universe to please the one person he is most in love with: Death incarnate. Yes, Thanos loves killing in the comics just because he’s a little too horny, which is pretty normal as far as comic book stupidity goes, and you can see why they didn’t include it in the movie.

Death wasn’t established in the MCU, well death is an entity, not death a concept, so it wouldn’t work. With the exception of the seventh episode of the currently airing Marvel TV series Agatha All Along, Aubrey Plaza’s character Rio Vidal was revealed to be Death (something many fans theorized about and others knew because it was leaked via a Pop Funko figure (oops!)). Unfortunately for all Thanos x Death shippers, her appearance in the MCU has no significance for the Mad Titan at this time.
I’m talking to Reciprocalshowrunner Jac Schaeffer has made it quite clear that “Thanos is not on my show, so I can’t speak to any connection to Thanos. Thanos is standing there, I have no answer for you.” Of course, this doesn’t completely rule out anything in the future, the MCU is too massive for one showrunner to have the final say on such matters, and even if Thanos is dead, Marvel is doing this whole multiverse thing. But honestly, I think it’s probably best to leave this storyline in the comics so people can continue to force TikToks to tell you facts you didn’t know about Thanos.
