Filming on the action film adaptation of “Horizon” will begin in 2026, and the studio is currently planning to hire a director.
According to court documents he had access to Game postthe film already has a working script and is getting closer to going into production. The company hopes to release the film in 2027.
In a statement filed as part of the platform holder’s legal proceedings with Tencent, PS Productions CEO Asad Qizilbash said:
“We are working on a film based on Horizon in collaboration with Columbia Pictures. We already have a working script and are actively looking for a director, with our goal of shooting in 2026 and premiering in 2027. The live-action film follows the recent collaboration between Columbia Pictures and PlayStation Productions on 2022’s Uncharted and Gran Turismo 2023 “
PlayStation is suing Tencent over its Light of Motiram copycat game, which it describes as a “slave clone.” She is currently trying to prove to the courts that the rip-off materially harmed her own franchise.
The film was mentioned because Sony is trying to emphasize the importance of Aloy to its business, claiming that it is a “symbol of the brand.” The company argues that Light of Motiram, by using a similar hero, misleads consumers.
This court case has already revealed several other secrets about PlayStation’s operations, such as the fact that the organization flew to China expecting to see a presentation of the mobile version of The Last of Us.
Instead, Tencent simply threw it at Project Horizon, which Sony says later evolved into Light of Motiram.
Horizon was officially unveiled at CES earlier this year, but this is the first time we’ve heard about its progress.
Sony previously planned to make a TV series based on the post-apocalyptic series with Netflix, but that deal fell through, forcing it to explore the possibility of making a film.
