Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds will be released on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2025.
The Nintendo Switch Edition 2 will be available digitally to gamers for $69.99/£64.99. The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Pack will also be available for $10/£10 for owners of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, allowing both content and progress to be transferred.
A physical version is coming – which Sega says will “include the full base game on cartridge” – but it’s not expected to release until “early 2026.” Sega also revealed that there will be no Limited Run Games Collector’s Edition available for Nintendo Switch 2 or any pre-order add-ons for this specific version of the game.
Publisher confirmed “there will be no Digital Deluxe Edition for Nintendo Switch 2 Edition,” however, “you can still access the enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 Digital Deluxe Edition content by purchasing the Nintendo Switch Digital Deluxe Edition and the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Update Pack.” If you already own the game, you can also upgrade by purchasing the Season Pass for Nintendo Switch.
CrossWorlds offers a huge number of playable characters, both in the base game and in additional DLC. Characters you’d expect like Sonic, Dr. Eggman, Knuckles, Shadow and Tails are present and correct, but there are also characters like SpongeBob SquarePants, Avatar, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtlesand Mega Man, whose appearance leaked early on when retailers broke the game’s official release date.
We thought Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was “amazing,” giving it a 9/10 in IGN’s reviewwriting: “Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is firing on all cylinders with a fantastic lineup, excellent tracks, and a long list of customization options.”
