Pit Of The Artificer is a repeatable dungeon located in Cerrigar in Scosglen. Northwest of the Cerrigar landmark you will find the Artisan’s Obelisk (Portal Activator). This is where you will gain access to the dungeon, so keep this in mind.
As for the dungeons themselves, they are timed, but they don’t just have a numeric timer like they do in The Kurast Undercity. Instead, a pointer will appear on the right side of the screen and the hourglass marker will slowly move from left to right.
A separate white triangular marker on the indicator represents your progress. For each enemy you kill, the gauge will fill up slightly, moving the white triangle closer to the end.
You will need to defeat a enormous number of enemies to completely fill the gauge, which will cause a portal to the final boss to appear. You will need to fill the gauge completely AND kill the boss before the hourglass reaches the end to win, and the faster you do it, the better your rewards will be.
Each time you complete a run with time to spare, you will unlock higher The Pit Of The Artificer difficulty levels, which represent difficulties up to (and above) Torment 1 to 4.
If you die in The Pit Of The Artificer, you will receive a time penalty that starts with a slap on the wrist, but the time penalty increases as you die. Ideally, you want to overcome difficulties that you can get through quickly without dying.
