Solid medieval RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 delayed until February

As the sun rises each day, the next ambitious RPG has inevitably been delayed. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 isn’t far off, but it’s now a bit further out than planned. It won’t launch in its original 2024 release window, instead sliding into 2025. The fresh release date is February 11th.

The RPG sequel was announced earlier this year to little surprise given the rumors surrounding its development. Developer Warhorse knocked it out of the park the first time around, crafting a striking medieval romp that combined bawdy intrigue with a well dose of drama and intrigue set amidst the forests and castles of the Czech Republic.

In a world full of fantasy RPGs, Kingdom Come is refreshingly grounded. It’s a historical drama where spellcasting and monster-slaying are replaced by herbal medicine and dueling knights. Protagonist Henry is also relatively grounded, despite having an incredibly intriguing life. At least at first, he’s a blacksmith’s son who knows nothing about the world.

The original game is undoubtedly chunky, but it doesn’t burden players with endless distractions or pointless map clearing, despite its scale. This time, Warhorse goes up a notch, promising a game that’s twice as huge, at least in terms of the map. Now, it’s two maps, one of which will allow us to explore the Czech city of Kuttenberg, which can still be visited.

When Warhorse started work on the first game, it was a studio of 11 people. Now it’s 250, which will hopefully translate into a slightly smoother launch for the game, with fewer of the bugs and performance issues that plagued the original.

In addition to the augment in size, you can expect primitive firearms, horse-drawn slaughter, sieges, and a whole lot of trouble for Henry and his best friend Hans. This is the part I’m looking forward to the most: a pair of slightly stupid guys wandering around the Czech countryside, getting into trouble.
