Reason number two is that it comes from the creators of the more explosive Bore Blasters. You’ll find the trailer below.
The teaser trailer is unfortunately just cutscenes and nothing related to the game.
Skull Horde battles take place in real time, and your minions fight for you autonomously. Your job is to choose where and when to explore and make wise decisions as you upgrade your squad. You can buy fresh units to build a squad of synergistic types, or buy multiples of the same unit to combine them into stronger versions, which ultimately leads to unlocking special abilities. Of course, loot can be found in dungeons via chests and shrines, which can further upgrade or customize your creatures.
By the way, the necromancer you play as is a flying skull. I like it.
I no longer feel there is room in my life for action RPGs, at least not for Diablo or Path Of Exile. However, a self-fighter with a more immediately satisfying dopamine drip is fascinating.
I’m feeling encouraged after spending the last week playing Bore Blasters, 8BitSkull’s (appropriately named) previous game. You play as a dwarven captain of a ship digging deeper underground in search of gems and upgrades, and the power curve is a quickly traversed straight line. In theory, it’s a run-based roguelite where progress carries over between installments, but it has at least as much in common with incremental games, especially To The Core. Alice B liked it too.
Skull Horde is scheduled for release in 2025 there are more obscure screenshots on steam.
