Silk Preview – “Mysterious Letters”

Published:

  • New Leo Park adventure game
  • Many tough puzzles
  • A gripping story

The second game in the series, “A Leo Park Adventure” brings a recent, polished story to the classic point-and-click genre – or well, point-and-tap as it is on mobile devices! I had the opportunity to play a demo of Silk on the website Independent Developer Daywhere despite the hall being a bit cacophonous, it managed to fully captivate me.

As a reminder, you don’t have to play Sand – A Leo Park Adventure to enjoy Silk.

Silk puts you in the role of Leo Parker, a teacher at Oxford University in 1917. You receive a letter from your mentor, Sir Francis, who needs your facilitate, so you leave the university and go straight to China to find out exactly what’s going on.

However, once you arrive, you can’t seem to find your Mentor and instead have to wander around the house trying to solve this mystery and discover what happened. Silk has charming, hand-drawn graphics combined with dozens of challenging puzzles that challenge you to explore your surroundings and figure out what to do next.

You’ll find bookshelves, fold torn pieces of paper, change sand in bottles, and much more. Once you leave the house, you will have to follow Sir Francis’s footsteps and find the antique palace of the Ming Empress. It’s a long puzzle game that promises to struggle with more tough puzzles, but the hint system is well done, getting close to the answer but not actually giving you a direct answer.

While I didn’t have much time with Silk, I found the puzzles both fun and challenging, like classic point-and-click games. The story was captivating and I wondered what exactly happened to my Mentor and why he felt his life was in danger. This is a game that should be checked out by those who are fans of the genre and are looking for something recent to play.
