With the release of Zenless Zone Zero version 1.3, Caesar and Burnice officially debut as rated characters on the in-game character banner. While Caesar is available now, Burnice will go on sale in just a few weeks, but since both are quite steep to maintain, which one should you prioritize?
Caesar King vs. Burnice – Ground Zero Without Zen
There are many factors that go into deciding which of these two 5-star characters to choose, but if you’re looking for a quick and sullied answer: Caesar King offers the most bang for your buckthanks to her extremely versatile set. That’s not to say that Burnice is any slouch, but breaking down both characters and their roles will give a clearer picture of why.
Caesar the King
Caesar King has one of the most overloaded sets I’ve ever seen in Zenless Zone Zero. Even though it is Physical defense As a character, she is the ultimate jack of all trades, able to fit into any team role, seamlessly fitting into any team lineup while offering the best team defense boosts in the entire game.
Provides a near-unbreakable shield for the entire team, a 25% damage debuff on enemies with a near-constant duration, and a massive 1000 ATK buff to allies, also with a near-constant duration. Her stunning abilities and ability to parry attacks without changing form add to her absurd versatility, while still being able to provide consistent and realistic DPS.

These factors allow her to easily serve as both a primary DPS and a stunner on any team, something no other character in Zenless Zone Zero can currently boast. Remember, this is all Caesar King in C0, with no additional theaters. Needless to say, its insane versatility makes it one of the easiest recommendations I can give.
Burnice

Burnice, on the other hand, is much more specialized, which is the norm for most characters in Zen-free ground zero. She is Fire Anomaly a character whose main role is to deal as much Fire DoT (damage over time) as possible. Her goal is to burn everything down with her dual flamethrowers and she is undoubtedly excellent at it.
In terms of raw damage, Burnice will far outperform Caesar as she can be double-teamed with Anomalies, allowing Discord’s slingshots to completely destroy her enemies. Additionally, since Burnice deals so much damage herself, she can be your primary DPS on the field when running with two supports.

Furthermore, Burnice’s current build allows her to deal massive Fire damage outside the battlefield as well, thanks to the Afterburn mechanic. Afterburn is a debuff she can apply that will allow her teammates to “initiate” additional Fire damage when they hit an affected enemy. This means that Burnice will also excel in teams where he is a backup DPS, as he doesn’t need a lot of time in the field to set up his debuff on every enemy on screen.
Other than that, Burnice doesn’t offer anything else to the band. She is a proven assassin and was designed around this concept, which pigeonholed her into this role. While Burnice’s damage output is impressive, Caesar offers much more than just damage that will allow her to remain relevant for a long time in the life of Zenless Ground Zero. Burnice is much less versatile than Caesar, so it may be worth investing in Caesar if you only have to choose one of these characters.
