This shit is indeed about to become a reality, but on top of all that, Valve has launched the first Steam Sale of 2025 in the form of Real-time strategy festivala week-long extravaganza of deals, demos, and free stuff in the Steam Points store, all geared towards – you guessed it – real-time strategy games.

These are not all RTS games, to be clear. If you like grand strategy, Universal Europe 4 it’s 90% cheaper ($5/£4/€5) and Victoria 3 it’s half price ($25/£21/€25). If you like misery and don’t particularly care about children, Frostpunk 2 is $35/£30/€35 – that’s 22% off the regular price – or you can build a medieval city building with Court lords30% off for the duration of RTS Fest ($28/£24.49/€28). There are 4X games (Stellaris with 75% discount is a good choice), tower defense, at least one writing game— if it’s related to the strategy, it’s likely to be included in this sell-off.

Naturally, there is also a lot to see in conventional RTS games:

If you want to get in on the large sale but don’t know where to start, check out our list of the best strategy games on PC. And if you’re really just looking for free stuff, head over to the site Steam Points Store and get some avatar frames and a nice animated “RTS Tank” avatar.

The real-time strategy festival on Steam has already started and will last until January 27 at 10am PT/1pm EST.
