Death and taxes remain the same, the sun rises and sets every day, and I have to write about every single Total War: Warhammer 3 news until the end of time. No one is forcing me, I must add. I just can’t aid myself. Every expansion is a step closer to an official Skurvy clan. Creative Assembly has just released a fresh video that gives more details on what to expect from the next DLC for the strategy game. Here’s a recap of the latest one to get you up to speed before I start foaming like a Bugman’s mug. That was a Warhammer reference! From Warhammer!

First, the team detailed the unique campaign mechanics for each of the three upcoming Legendary Lords. In the case of Orc Gorbad, it’s “Da Plan.” Lead designer Sean Macdonald describes it as “Gorbad experimenting with different units in his squad that he can combine.” An example he gives is “send a few goblins in front of the archers, and they can pick up arrows. And it’s like, now you have a way to regenerate ammo during battle.” To me, it sounds like different campaign and battle buffs that you’ll get as you climb up the military hierarchy, but we’ll see.

For Ogre Golfag Maneater, it’s all about contracts. “For the first time in Warhammer III, we’re trying to create a faction that plays like a mercenary,” says Macdonald. You’ll take contracts from factions to fight others, but it doesn’t seem like it’ll affect your personal diplomatic relationship with the target faction. “We’ve created a new experience where he kind of wanders around the world, takes on quests, and beats up anyone he likes.”

In the case of Khorne’s Skulltaker, it’s all about… taking skulls, as it should be. “The whole idea of the feature is to seek out, you know, powerful characters, defeat them, take some of their power, and power yourself up even more to become the ultimate champion of Khorne,” Macdonald explains.

As for fresh units, the team mentions the typical savage orc shaman, Yhetees for the ogres, and two legendary heroes for Khorne: Scyl Anfingrimm and Skarr Bloodwrath. Elsewhere, there are mentions of tweaks to Kislev and Bretonnia, fresh magic items, and a fresh endgame event for the Chaos Invasion. Game director Rich Aldrige also hints at more weapon variants for some units, like the guys. And that’s all Warhammer can do to scream “Warhammer” for now. See you at the next Warhammer. Warhammer.
