If you can afford the compact price premium of the Switch OLED over the non-OLED model, then I think it’s worth the upgrade. The Nintendo Switch OLED has an OLED display, which offers better image quality than the original LCD. This includes deeper blacks, more vivid colors, and better color gradients. Text is also sharper and easier to read. The screen isn’t that much bigger (7 inches on the OLED vs. 6.2 inches on the non-OLED), but it does feel a lot bigger thanks to the thinner bezel. Other improvements worth mentioning include a modern and improved stand, a wired Ethernet port on the dock, and an exclusive white Switch case and matching Joy-Cons.
“Switch 2” won’t be out anytime soon
If you’re waiting for the next-gen Switch console, prepare to wait a little longer. It turns out the rumored console update won’t release until the first or second quarter of 2025.
