Rockstar updates the main GTA 6 website with a up-to-date release date and – sorry PC gamers – it’s still not available only on PS5 and Xbox Series X and S

Rockstar has updated the GTA 6 main website to reflect the game’s recent delay and is maintaining the console-only launch for now.

GTA 6 has been delayed from May to November 2026, and Rockstar said the extra half a year “will allow us to complete the game with the level of polish you expect and deserve.”

Some have wondered whether this latest delay – the second since the official reveal in December 2023 – will cause Rockstar Games to revise its launch plans, which for now only include PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. But, as he noted @videotechuk_now Rockstar has updated the official GTA 6 website mentioning a November 19 release date and listing consoles as the only launch platforms.

What does this mean for PC gamers? They are already facing the prospect of a longer wait for GTA 6 – when GTA 6 was planned to be released this fall, some believed that the game would be released on PCs in 2026. Currently, this seems impossible, and some PC players fear that they will not play this game until 2028. Late 2027 seems like a unthreatening bet, but it’s Rockstar. It’s tough to predict what the company will do.

In an interview with IGN yesterday, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said he’s “very confident” that this is the last time GTA 6 will be delayed. “We wanted to give Rockstar the appropriate amount of time to refine the title and make sure it’s the best it can be,” he said.

It was previously announced that GTA 6 would be released in the fall of 2025, which Zelnick was sure of at the time. The game was later delayed until May 2026, with Take-Two and Rockstar similarly citing the need for polish. Back then, Zelnick sounded confident.

In terms of launch platforms, Zelnick was asked last year whether the lack of a PC version of GTA 6 had been firmly established. Here is Zelnick’s full response:

Well, no announcement is not something that can be written in stone as far as I’ve found out, because the only thing that happens after no announcement is an announcement, I guess, or a continuous lack of an announcement, I guess that can happen too. I don’t think any of it is written in stone.

However, Rockstar has an approach to platforms that we’ve seen before, and will announce more in due course. I believe the right strategy for our company is to be where the consumer is, and historically what this company has done is reach consumers wherever they are, on any platform that makes sense, over time.

This was Zelnick dancing around the inevitable PC version of GTA 6, but he pointed to Rockstar’s release strategy for previous games. Rockstar game fans they noted the studio’s historical reluctance to release other previous games on PC with the console, as well as its strained relationship with the modding community over the years. Still, some hoped that a game as huge as GTA 6 could be a turning point in the studio’s approach to PC gaming, but those hopes have been dashed.

Big Rockstar titles are finally coming to PC, but the question is how long PC gamers will have to wait for the biggest entertainment release of all time.

In the meantime, we’ve learned a lot more about GTA 6, including how the internet reacted to the GTA 6 delay and why it’s no surprise that it was delayed.
