“The Rise Of The Golden Idol” will open wide on a recent case on November 12, but the detective sequel is just the beginning. Color Gray Games is planning another batch of DLC similar to the one the first game received, The Case Of The Golden Idol: four standalone mysteries that introduce more mysteries to solve.
“There are tons of additional standalone stories we want to tell set in the Golden Idol universe, and we’ve found that the best way to tell those stories is through four standalone DLC chapters – called Investigations,” he says announcement.
“Like the DLC released for The Case of the Golden Idol, this is optional side content and is not required to complete the story in The Rise of the Golden Idol.”
The base game will contain 20 scenarios and will cost $20 (or the regional equivalent recommended by Steam), and each of the four DLCs adds “at least” four more. The first one will be released in the first quarter of 2025 and is titled The Sins Of New Wells. Two DLCs will then appear in the spring and a fourth in the fall. “This is the current roadmap and may change,” of course.
The Case Of The Golden Idol was one of our favorite games of 2022 and ranks among the best puzzle games on PC. Rise Of seems to follow in its footsteps as a mystery-mystery with a gruesome death, but it swaps the 18th century setting of the original for the 1970s, which should give it a recent flavor.
