Riot Games Still Closed After Los Angeles Fires, Announces In-Game Fundraisers

Riot Games closed its offices on January 9 due to the Los Angeles wildfires, and today the company closed its offices confirmed in the information post that its offices are still closed following the crisis. “Our Los Angeles headquarters is located just a few miles from the Palisades Fire and has remained closed since the fires began,” the post read. “Our teams have been deeply affected by this crisis, with some Rioters losing their homes and many others continuing to evacuate. In times like these, our priority is their health and safety. We have taken steps to support Rioters through this difficult time by providing transitional housing, emergency grants and access to counseling services.”

The company is also using the platform of its popular video games to provide ways for others to donate to ongoing relief efforts. “Starting January 22, we will begin in-game fundraising in Riot’s regions Evaluation AND League of Legends Personal computer to support global firefighting and other natural disasters,” the post reads. “Proceeds will be donated to the cause Riot Games Social Impact Fundwhich will then distribute funds to organizations helping with disaster relief efforts in Southern California and around the world.”

IN EvaluationFrom January 22-30, Riot will donate proceeds from player purchases of the EX.O Collection to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. For League of Legends PC players, the collection lasts from January 23 to February 5; Tristan’s Fireman has been taken out of the vault and proceeds will also be donated to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.

“Recovery doesn’t end when the fires go out. Rebuilding communities takes time, and this crisis – so close to our headquarters – has inspired us to strengthen our commitment to disaster relief and prevention on a global scale.”
