RiME developer Tequila Works is experiencing layoffs and canceling the game

Rime AND CULT developer Tequila Works announced on Tuesday that there were layoffs at the company. It also canceled an unannounced game and will “restructure the studio to focus on developing just one game.”

“These changes will impact a small number of positions in the studio,” Tequila Works said LinkedIn. “This is an incredibly difficult time and our aim is to provide support and guidance to those affected by this situation.”

Tequila Works already has a luxurious history in the independent scene since its launch in 2009. Rime is one of the most recognized titles from 80 Metacritical result. His last project Song of Nunu was a joint project with League of Legends License depicting a boy and his yeti friend in an arctic landscape.

Tencent also owns shares in Epic Games, Bluehole and Ubisoft. This also acquired The return of 4 Blood developer Turtle Rock Studios in 2021.
