RIG 600 Pro HS Acid Camo Headset Review

Our verdict

While everything sounds fantastic in the headset, microphone performance is a drawback on the otherwise excellent all-round RIG Pro 600 – although the Wicked Cushions provide an exceptionally lightweight and comfortable experience.

Reasons for purchase

  • Perfect bass
  • Light
Reasons to avoid

  • It may come out petite
  • The microphone quality is not amazing

I spend many weekends gaming, often with friends, so a comfortable set of headphones is key. Nacon is fresh RIG 600 Pro Acid Camo Headset provides extra comfort for your ears whether you’re jumping into a game quickly or spending the entire day playing Overwatch, so we took them for a test drive.

Billed for exploit on Switch, mobile, PC and PlayStation, with a very lightweight strap and straightforward connectivity, the RIG 600 offers great flexibility of exploit, without the literal headaches that can come with ponderous or poorly designed headsets. Moreover, the Acid Camo color scheme is quite trendy and adds a touch of madness to your setup.

The latest Nacon headset offers dual wireless connectivity via USB and Bluetooth, with noise cancellation and excellent bass response so you don’t get distracted. To test this headset as much as possible, I tried it on mobile, computer, and Switch to see how it stacked up against the best Nintendo Switch headsets. So let’s get to it.

Design

How much you like the design of the RIG Pro 600 Acid Camo depends on whether you like the gray, black, and dazzling yellow color scheme. For me, it’s muted enough that it doesn’t ruin my aesthetic, but it definitely doesn’t fit my “setting,” if you can call it that. This is the only colorway available at Wicked Cushions, so if you want super comfortable ears, you’ll have to learn to love camouflage.

Beyond the color scheme, the headset looks chic. On the back of the left earcup are the power, mode and call buttons, as well as a scroll wheel for adjusting the volume. These buttons don’t stick out and they don’t have any blinding lights, so they shouldn’t get in the way or, God forbid, get your long hair stuck in them. There is also a microphone that fits perfectly into the cup, which you can tilt up by pressing on its base. I will admit that it took me way too long and I had a broken nail, but it pops out really easily when you press in the right place.

RIG Pro is a very lithe set, which is very appreciated because it sits on your head for a long time. That said, the three size options – petite, medium and vast – are on the smaller side. I don’t think I have a substantial head, but the largest setting is perfect for me. While the headset doesn’t press or pinch your head, if you prefer a larger adult headset, this may not be for you.

The main selling point is here Bad pillows that stick to your ears. If you want, you can easily detach the cushions or put them back on if they fall off. These PadZ toilets do exactly what they promise – dense memory foam is equipped with sports material for a great feel. Honestly, they are really comfortable and unlike other headsets, they don’t sweat over time. Side note for anyone who has earrings – my ear jewelry doesn’t cause any discomfort when I wear them.

The headset comes with a petite USB-C dongle and a low cable, so you can exploit it on your computer (or PlayStation) and switch via the charging port. Using it this way with the Switch is a bit risky and can only be done in manual mode – but I had to be careful not to lean on the dongle so as not to bend or break it. You can also exploit any other USB-C cable for charging, as the one that comes in the box is a bit too low to place the headset anywhere other than on the computer tower while charging.

Efficiency

When it comes to the performance of this headset, it is overall impressive. Since the RIG Pro 600 is purely wireless, you’ll need to keep an eye on the battery, but when it starts to run low, you’ll be notified about medium and low power consumption. That said, you should manage about 18 hours of exploit before you need to consider charging.

After many, many years of using various earbuds, headphones and headsets with everything from CD players to MP3 players to phones and PCs, I can say that the sound quality of the RIG 600 Pro is high. There is a lot of bass, which is greatly appreciated, especially since this is not a set of in-ear headphones, where I usually find decent bass.

The sound quality remains consistent regardless of the source, whether it’s on my Switch, phone or computer. This particular headset tuned the sound of the WC PadZ for excellent noise isolation. I don’t hear any keyboard sounds while typing at work, and unfortunately I didn’t hear my partner ask what I wanted for dinner while I was engrossed in Genshin Impact.

While the sound quality coming out of the headset is great, the RIG Pro’s microphone is a bit disappointing. According to friends on Discord, while the microphone isn’t terrible, it doesn’t match the quality of other brands like HyperX Cloud II for a similar price. If you’re looking for a headset with a clear HD microphone for streaming or calling, this isn’t it. For almost $90, the microphone falls low of expectations.

When it comes to using the RIG Pro 600, syncing it with your PC and Switch is relatively basic. It’s not as basic as just ‘plug and play’ considering it’s just a wireless headset, but once you’re connected you’re all set. However, I found that I had to change the audio settings again when I wasn’t using them, even though the headset was turned off. I haven’t used many wireless audio devices with my computer, but I haven’t encountered anything like this before.

Software

For those who like to play around with the settings, Nacon has an app for that. You can download an app specifically for the 600 Pro that lets you update your headset with the press of a button, adjust power output, power-off time, and more. You can also test your microphone settings here without annoying your friends while chatting (guilty as charged).

Let’s talk about the “Dual Mode” setting. Apparently the Dual setting allows you to connect using “USB and Bluetooth gaming.” I tried this with my Switch and phone, then with my computer and phone, but I couldn’t get it to work. I’m not sure if it allows answering calls as the only Bluetooth feature.

To start, I tried using USB on my Switch, then joined a Discord call on my phone using Bluetooth. As soon as I joined, all sounds from my Switch stopped. Fiddling with settings, ending the Discord connection, and even turning off Bluetooth didn’t seem to fix it.

I then tried using my computer and phone, which also caused problems. Setting it to dual mode meant that the game sounds from my computer were muddy and low quality, and then there was no sound coming from the app on my phone. No TikTok, no notifications, nothing. This setting doesn’t work for me. That’s okay; Generally speaking, I don’t need audio from two different devices at the same time, but I’m disappointed that this feature doesn’t do what it promises.

Fortunately, switching between modes is very straightforward, so avoiding failures in Dual mode is basic. Click the button to exploit USB mode only. Click it again to turn on Bluetooth-only mode.

Is it worth buying RIG Pro 600?

Overall, the RIG Pro 600 in Acid Camo is a good headset if it’s within your price range. I recommend it more to those who prefer good sound quality over a clear microphone, as well as to anyone who wants a lightweight headset with cushioned cushions. The bass and noise reduction feature allows you to focus on your game, music or programs, although the dual setting leaves something to be desired.
