Raccoon Logic has announced that Revenge of the Savage Planet will be released in May 2025, with the sequel Journey to the Savage Planet coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
The recent trailer shows Kindred Aerospace CEO Martin Tweed from the first game revealing his recent nemesis, Gunther Harrison, CEO of rival company Alta Interglobal, and brand recent gameplay.
You’ll notice one substantial change in this game compared to the original, as it’s shifted to a third-person view, allowing you to really immerse yourself in the bombastic, cartoonish animations of the characters as they run, slide, jump, and tear through the game.
You have been stranded on an alien planet after your colonization mission is deemed too steep for Alta Interglobal. So you’ll set out to explore, search and rescue habitats sent on a one-way journey from the cuts, capture animals, upgrade equipment, and discover secrets. Also… there are actually four planets in this game and they are all wild.
Revenge of the Savage Planet can be played solo or cooperatively (both split-screen, local and online) and with full cross-play.
Journey to the Savage Planet was originally released in 2020, shortly after Google acquired developer Typhoon Studios. It still launched cross-platform, although it was ported to Stadia some time later. Of course, we all know what happened with Stadia, and Google shut down Typhoon Studios in the process. Fortunately, the founders managed to start Raccoon Logic with some support from Tencent and got the Savage Planet IP back from Google, making it a full sequel rather than one of its spiritual successors.
We had a great time with the original. Dom said in our review of Journey to the Savage Planet: “A brilliant space adventure, Journey to the Savage Planet is clever enough to make you laugh out loud with its take on consumerism and big business.”
