Devolver Digital has announced a novel mode for its adorable action-adventure game, The Plucky Squire.
Dubbed Streamlined Mode, this novel way of playing essentially eliminates some of the tutorials, hand-holding, and less-than-essential dialogue, so you’re less likely to lose control to players.
The game is clearly aimed at a family audience, so the recurrent control reminders, tutorials, and cutscenes in the regular story mode make sense in that context. However, for more experienced players, streamlined mode eliminates some of the hand-holding.
“You can still play the game as before, but a new, shortened streamlined mode has been added for anyone who prefers a less hand-holding experience,” reads the press release. “This trims less necessary dialogue, removes or limits camera cues, cuts out some tutorial content, and is less likely to take away your control of the game.”
The mode is already available on PC, and will soon be implemented in a novel patch for console versions, including, of course, PS5.
This update also “adds sleek new dialogue portraits for main characters, as well as some general bug fixes and other minor improvements.”
